Swimming in the Blue Ocean – Mina Boström Nakicenovic

Once upon a time Mina Boström Nakicenovic was a good swimmer, a youth champion in breaststroke swimming. After a 27-year long break, when Mina enrolled in the Swedish National Masters Championship she saw no chance to compete with those participants in better shape. That is why Mina turned to blue ocean strategy, to find a way to make the competition irrelevant. With both a gold and silver medal to take home, her blue ocean strategy turned out to be a winning one. Blue ocean strategy is a strategic mindset. It challenges the tenets of competitive strategy and calls for a shift in focus from competing to creating new market space and hence making the competition irrelevant.
