Hitachi and Microsoft have announced a technical update to the Ellipse Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software. This development is part of a three-year agreement reached in 2024. The update involves the integration of Microsoft’s generative AI and data analytics tools that specifically involve Dynamics 365, Microsoft Fabric, and Copilot, into Hitachi’s existing infrastructure management systems.
The companies state that the software is designed to shift maintenance for power grids and transport networks toward a predictive model. This approach relies on real-time data to identify potential equipment failures before they cause service interruptions.
Under the terms of the multi-billion dollar alliance, Hitachi has set a goal to train 50,000 employees in generative AI. Additionally, the two firms are collaborating on data center projects in Europe. In their statement, they mention that these facilities are described as “zero-carbon” projects, intended to address the significant electricity demands and carbon footprint associated with the scaling of generative AI operations.
