Belgian legaltech startup Alice has raised €1 million in pre-seed funding to eliminate the risk of “AI hallucinations” in the courtroom. Led by NewSchool and Seeder Fund, the investment targets the growing need for verifiable AI as European judges increasingly penalize lawyers for unverified AI-generated citations.
Founded by practicing lawyers Jeroen Villé and Armin Wintein, along with computer scientist Joren Coulier, Alice moves beyond generic chat-based AI. The platform provides an integrated, verifiable workflow that guides lawyers from messy case-file analysis to final document drafting, ensuring every argument is anchored in traceable facts and verified law.
Unlike many startups that raise funding before having a product Alice is already active and available. With over 60 customers already on board, the Ghent-based team will use the capital to scale their development and expand their footprint across the European legal market.
