We’ve seen it happen countless times, and we are in one right now for music. Artists have always sought new ways to find inspiration and create great tunes. Technology is, and has always been, the close collaborator in this. This is a complex and controversial topic, as there are a lot of layers to AI Music. To really understand it, you have to understand how the music industry already works and how it might be changing.

Small Language Models: Are SLMs Set to Transform AI? Over the past year, Large Language Models have dominated discussions in the AI community. However, there has been a recent surge of interest in Small Language Models (SLMs) as well. These models are challenging the supremacy of their larger counterparts. Large models like GPT-4 by OpenAI and LLaMA by Meta, have gained widespread attention. But SLMs are making waves for their compact size and efficiency.

To What Degree Should You Let Data Free? Self-service analytics, citizen data platforms, or even data democratization is a north star in many organizations. Generative AI spans healthcare, retail, arts, and more, beyond tech. Addressing ethical, cultural, and regulatory challenges is crucial through frameworks for responsible use. Organizations must recognize Gen AI’s broad impact on technology, politics, economy, and society.

Optimizing AI Deployment in the Enterprise: Customization and Scalability. As artificial intelligence continues its rapid development, businesses are prioritizing how to best deploy and customize these models for their unique requirements. It is crucial for companies to optimize how they deploy and tailor AI models to their specific uses, as efficient AI utilization enhances competitiveness and drives innovation. Generative AI models like Lama3 have proven to be highly versatile and powerful. Their capabilities enable applications across diverse tasks, from document chatbots to developer assistants and content creation tools.

EU AI Act: A Game-Changer with Some Head-Scratchers. As someone who’s been following the AI industry closely, I have to say the new European Union AI Act has really caught my attention. It’s a beast of a document; 458 pages and 113 articles! When I first heard about it, I thought, ‘Well, there goes my weekend reading.‘ But jokes aside, this is a big deal, folks. It’s probably the most ambitious attempt to regulate AI that we’ve seen so far.

Google Drops Gemini 1.5 Flash Price by 70% and Adds New Features.  Last week, Google for Developers launched an experimental updated version of Gemini 1.5 Pro (0801) that ranked #1 on the LMSYS leaderboard for both text and multi-modal queries. Today, they’re announcing a series of improvements across AI Studio and the Gemini API: Significant reduction in costs for Gemini 1.5 Flash, with input token costs decreasing by 78% and output token costs decreasing by 71% 1.5 Flash tuning is now available to all developers Expanding the Gemini API to support queries in 100+ additional languages Expanded AI Studio access for Google Workspace customers Revamped documentation UI and API reference and more!

X Faces GDPR Complaints for Unauthorized Use of Data for AI Training. European privacy advocate NOYB (None of Your Business) has filed nine GDPR complaints about X using the personal data from over 60 million users in Europe to train “Grok,” the social media company’s large language model. According to NOYB, X did not inform its users that their data was being used to train AI and did not ask for their consent to the practice. NOYB is a European non-profit privacy advocacy organization focused on enforcing digital rights and data protection laws, particularly GDPR, which it achieves by filing related complaints to the applicable authorities.
