Zoom AI Companion 3.0 Unlocks Agentic Retrieval and Cross-App Workflows

Zoom has launched AI Companion 3.0, transitioning its platform from a meeting tool to an intelligent work orchestration system. The update is centered on a new web-based, agentic AI surface, designed to convert meeting discussions and scattered content into actionable insights and automated tasks.

Key features include agentic retrieval, which synthesizes information from Zoom Workplace content and integrated third-party apps like Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, with plans to add Gmail and Outlook. New personal workflows (in beta) allow users to automate routine tasks, such as generating daily reflection reports or drafting follow-up communications based on meeting context.

The update also features an agentic writing mode to draft and refine documents using meeting content and expanded notetaking to cover in-person meetings and rival platforms (Microsoft Teams, Google Meet).

Zoom is utilizing a federated AI approach, combining its own proprietary models with third-party LLMs from providers like OpenAI and Anthropic, and open-source options. Select features are now available to Zoom Workplace Basic (free) users, with full access offered via a standalone paid plan.
