OpenAI has officially unveiled Education for Countries, an initiative designed to integrate advanced AI into national school systems and university consortia. Debuted at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the program addresses a widening “capability overhang” by helping nations move AI from a novel curiosity to a core educational utility. The first cohort of partners includes eight nations: Estonia, the UAE, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, and Trinidad and Tobago. All of which will work directly with OpenAI to personalize student learning and reduce the administrative burden on teachers.
The initiative provides partner nations with large-scale access to ChatGPT Edu and the latest GPT-5.2 models, alongside “Canvas” and “Study Mode” tools customized for local curricula. Beyond providing technology, OpenAI is collaborating with Ministries of Education on national research to measure learning outcomes and productivity gains. To ensure long-term economic impact, the program also introduces OpenAI Certifications, providing students and educators with verifiable, job-ready skills. With this move, OpenAI aims to ensure the workforce of 2030 is prepared for a rapidly shifting labour market.
