Nebius, an Amsterdam-headquartered AI cloud company, has announced plans to construct a new AI factory in Lappeenranta, Finland. The infrastructure will be equipped with the latest NVIDIA accelerated compute platforms, specifically the Blackwell and Rubin generations, to support high-performance AI training and inference.
The campus will occupy approximately 100 acres of industrial land and is expected to provide its first available capacity to customers in 2027.
The facility is designed with a capacity of up to 310 MW, making it one of the largest dedicated AI compute deployments in Europe.
In their official statement, they emphasize that the primary focus of the design will be sustainability, and the facility will utilize a closed-loop liquid cooling system to minimize water consumption and will be engineered for heat recovery. This system should allow excess heat generated by the servers to be integrated into the local district heating network, mirroring a successful model implemented at the Mäntsälä site which has previously reduced local CO2 emissions and heating costs.
This development follows the recent expansion of the company’s Mäntsälä data center to 75 MW. Beyond Finland, Nebius is expanding its global footprint with a 1 GW facility in Missouri and a 240 MW site near Lille, France.
This project is a central component of the company’s broader strategy to secure more than 3 GW of contracted power globally by the end of 2026.
