Norway and India have officially agreed to deepen their strategic partnership with a focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and green technology. During the 12th round of Foreign Office Consultations held today in Oslo, India’s Secretary (West), Sibi George, and Norway’s Secretary, General Torgeir Larsen, reviewed their bilateral ties, specifically highlighting AI as a priority sector for future growth.
The consultations centered on the implementation of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which came into force in October 2025. Both nations emphasized that this agreement will be the primary driver for bringing Norwegian technological expertise and investment to India. A significant portion of the talks was dedicated to “Industrial AI” and its applications within the Blue Economy (an economic system or sector that seeks to conserve marine and freshwater environments while using them in a sustainable way to develop economic growth and produce resources such as energy and food), aiming to modernize maritime shipping and renewable energy sectors through advanced digital solutions.
