OpenAI Announces Record Funding Round to Scale Global AI Infrastructure

The American technology company OpenAI has announced a €93.2 billion ($110 billion) investment at a €618.6 billion ($730 billion) pre-money valuation, led by €42.4 billion ($50 billion) from Amazon and €25.4 billion ($30 billion) each from SoftBank and NVIDIA.

According to the statement, this capital influx aims to meet surging AI demand by securing the necessary compute, distribution, and financial resources to transition frontier AI from research into global daily use. As part of this expansion, OpenAI has entered a multi-year strategic partnership with Amazon and secured a training capacity on NVIDIA’s next-generation Vera Rubin systems.

The scale of this growth is reflected in current user metrics, with ChatGPT reaching 900 million weekly active users and 50 million consumer subscribers. The platform also serves over 9 million paying business users, while the Codex programming tool has tripled its weekly user base to 1.6 million since the start of the year. To support enterprise deployment, the company’s Frontier platform now assists organizations in managing AI coworkers across various professional departments.
