America’s AI company Anthropic, has released Claude Sonnet 4.6, a significant update designed to deliver frontier-level intelligence at a more accessible price. The model is now the default for both Free and Pro users on Claude.ai and introduces a 1-million-token context window in beta, allowing it to process massive datasets like entire codebases or long-form legal documents in a single prompt.
Sonnet 4.6 features enhanced “computer use” reliability for navigating web environments and includes “adaptive thinking” controls that allow users to scale the model’s reasoning effort based on the task. Pricing remains unchanged at $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens.
The release maintains Anthropic’s four-month update cadence and follows the launch of Opus 4.6 earlier in the month. By bringing Opus-level intelligence to a more accessible price point, Anthropic aims to support organizations moving toward “agentic” workflows where AI acts as an autonomous collaborator rather than a simple chatbot.
