Smart Eye, a global leader in Human Insight AI, has acquired Sightic Analytics, a Swedish startup specializing in AI-driven impairment detection. The move integrates Sightic’s patented technology detecting which uses eye-tracking to identify alcohol and drug impairment in real-time – into Smart Eye’s existing Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS).
“Together, we can develop our target product faster and more cost-efficiently, thereby saving more lives.” says Martin Krantz, CEO and founder of Smart Eye.
By combining their technologies, Smart Eye aims to provide automotive manufacturers with a more comprehensive safety solution that goes beyond traditional drowsiness and distraction alerts.
The acquisition is strategically timed to align with evolving global vehicle safety regulations, such as the EU’s General Safety Regulation, which increasingly mandate advanced systems to combat impaired driving.
