Singapore has launched their new governance framework specifically for Agentic AI, moving beyond simple chatbots to regulate systems that can act independently. Unveiled by Minister Josephine Teo at the 2026 World Economic Forum that happened in Davos, Switzerland, the framework provides a roadmap for safely deploying “AI agents” capable of executing complex tasks like financial transactions or database management.
The policy emphasizes that human accountability remains absolute, requiring organizations to implement “checkpoints” for high-risk actions. By setting clear boundaries on agent autonomy and data access now, with this framework, Singapore aims to foster innovation while protecting against unauthorized actions and the risks of over-trusting autonomous systems.
