BITZER and SAP Pioneer “Physical AI” in Global Logistics

Refrigeration leader BITZER and software giant SAP have successfully moved humanoid robotics from experimental theory into live warehouse operations. As part of SAP’s “Project Embodied AI,” the team deployed NEURA Robotics’ 4NE1 humanoid at BITZER’s German facility to handle complex kitting and picking tasks.

The pilot takes place at BITZER’s warehouse in Rottenburg, Germany. It demonstrates a future where “Agentic AI” moves physical objects based on real-time business data.

By integrating the robot directly into SAP’s S/4HANA Cloud environment, the system creates a “Single Source of Truth” where order changes are reflected instantly in the robot’s physical actions. Christian Stenzel, VP of IT at BITZER, noted that this pilot sets a new benchmark for 24/7 demand-driven production, allowing autonomous agents to manage inventory fluctuations and peak periods without the need for costly custom middleware.
