Google has announced a new global test for its mobile Search results page, allowing users to seamlessly access a deeper AI Mode directly from the search results.

The company states this initiative supports its long-term vision for Search: to efficiently answer complex user queries. The system now directs users toward a more detailed, AI-generated response instead of surfacing more source links when “Show more” is tapped. 

This change holds significant implications for the digital publishing and marketing sectors. By routing user engagement toward a comprehensive AI answer within the search interface, the feature may reduce the number of clicks directed to external websites. 

If this test results in a wide rollout, website owners and publishers may need to account for a potential shift in organic search traffic, as the AI response increasingly functions as a complete solution for user information needs.
