Cloudflare has experienced another significant outage, marking possibly the third major outage within a short period, following a previous high-profile incident in November.
The cause of this latest outage this morning, on December 5th, 2025, has been quickly identified by the company’s CTO and appears to be linked to technical actions taken around updates and internal system changes.
The issue was rooted in an internal engineering activity. The immediate cause of the outage was the disabling of certain internal logging features within the Cloudflare system. This action was taken as a mitigation measure against a known React CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures), a security flaw in the React framework. However, the company has implemented a fix, and services are reportedly restored, but they have apologized and promised a full post-mortem detailing the incident reverently triggered an internal system crash and failure, impacting the Cloudflare Dashboard and APIs and resulting in widespread 5xx connectivity errors across dependent websites.
