OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman is reportedly shifting the company’s focus toward more user-centric features as concerns grow about a potential “AI bubble” – a period of inflated expectations and investment that may outpace real technological value.
According to The Wall Street Journal, he has declared an internal “code red”, the company’s highest alert level, in response to rising competition from Google’s Gemini.
His priority is accelerating work on Pulse, OpenAI’s new personalized research assistant to be designed to deliver short daily news updates based on users’ interests and interactions with ChatGPT.
With competition from Google’s Gemini intensifying, this strategic shift is pushing Altman to prioritize delivering more value to users while scaling back initiatives including advertising.
