Session Outline
Having experience from successfully both developing new business opportunities (seeing what works and what fails and why) and driving data transformation at large companies, It is interesting to talk about Marisa Leysen Jestin’s findings in her talk at the Data Innovation Summit 2023! In her talk, Marisa sheds light on what can be reused from these experiences to be successful and what can impact both negatively. Can be applied to any large companies and trigger really good discussions.
Key Takeaways:
- Similarities
- Top management leading the way is essential
- Requires investment and time to get there
- Business and tech/data need to progress at the same pace (none can be successful without the other) = team /WoW
- Value for customers /stakeholders needs to be very clear to succeed
- Major difference in the end is that the investment in data will always pay off (and is even mandatory if a company wants to keep up with competition) while there is no guarantee of success for an innovation initiative. Most actually fail.
