Meta Scales Agentic AI with Massive AWS Graviton Deployment

The American technology company Meta has announced an agreement to deploy tens of millions of AWS Graviton processor cores, marking a major expansion in its infrastructure strategy to support the next generation of agentic AI. While GPUs remain the standard for training, the shift toward autonomous agents has created an unprecedented demand for high-performance, energy-efficient CPU capacity.

The deal centers on the Graviton5, Amazon’s most advanced custom-built chip. Featuring 192 cores and a cache five times larger than its predecessor, Graviton5 is designed specifically for the “brain work” of AI agents.

According to Meta, the move is a “strategic imperative” to diversify its compute sources as it scales global AI services. The deployment utilizes the AWS Nitro System, allowing Meta to run its own virtual machines with bare-metal performance while leveraging AWS’s high-bandwidth networking.
