Google Consolidates Robotics Strategy by Bringing Intrinsic In-House

Intrinsic, the robotics software company, previously operating as an independent “Other Bet”, is officially joining Google. This was announced by Google’s parent company, Alphabet.

The move is designed to accelerate the development of physical AI by integrating Intrinsic’s industrial robotics platform directly with Google’s core research, technical infrastructure, and Gemini AI models.

Originally incubated within Alphabet’s X factory before spinning out in 2021, Intrinsic focuses on making industrial robotics more accessible. Its platform, Flowstate, provides a development environment for building robotic applications using modular skills, reducing the need for thousands of lines of manual code.

By moving into Google, Intrinsic is set to operate as a distinct group while collaborating closely with Google DeepMind. This transition allows the team to leverage Google’s frontier AI and cloud infrastructure to scale real-world applications for a broader range of enterprise customers.
