Gartner, Inc, a global research and advisory firm released a forecast predicting that worldwide spending on Artificial Intelligence (AI) will reach 2.15 trillion Euros in 2026, which is a 44% surge from last year. Despite the market entering the “trough of disillusionment”, investment is accelerating as technology providers build the foundations for the next decade of computing.
The growth is primarily fueled by a massive build-out of AI infrastructure, which is set to reach €1.168 Trillion. This includes a 49% jump in spending on AI-optimized servers as companies transition from simple chatbots to mission-critical autonomous agents.
As the industry matures, the focus has shifted toward organizational readiness and proven outcomes. Spending on AI services and software is expected to total over €853 Billion combined, driven by the need for specialized skills to integrate these tools into core business workflows. With infrastructure now acting as the economy’s “digital grid,” Gartner predicts that total spending will continue to climb, potentially reaching €2.815 Trillion ($3.3 trillion) by 2027.
