Workday, an American leading enterprise platform that unifies HR and finance operations, has appointed Joel Hellermark as its new Chief AI Officer. Hellermark will take on this expanded leadership role while continuing to head Sana, the prominent AI startup he founded nearly a decade ago. This move follows Workday’s 2025 acquisition of Sana in a deal valued at approximately $1.1 billion.
“This is a refounding moment for Workday. We’re moving from selling software to selling work itself, with thousands of agents running HR, finance, and IT for you”, Hellermark posted on LinkedIn.
Beyond his leadership at Sana and Workday, Hellermark is an active investor in the global AI ecosystem. His portfolio includes next-generation ventures across various industries, backing companies such as Lovable, Legora, Clay, viktor.com, CuspAI, Tandem Health, Odyssey, Omnea, and Galileo AI.
