This day is designed for both data and AI practitioners working within industry contexts, and business and domain leaders seeking to align technical innovation with strategic outcomes. Industry Day fosters practical, outcome-focused dialogue that connects technical capabilities with business impact.
It is incredibly exciting to see the Data Innovation Summit expand for its 11th edition! Adding a dedicated Industry Day is a massive value-add, as it moves the conversation from abstract theory to the actual “coalface” of where AI meets infrastructure.
DIS2026X1 MasterClass with Joe Reis
Date | May 8
Location | W7 Amphitheatre, Kistamässan
Duration | Half Day
Your data warehouse was designed to serve dashboards. Now it’s supposed to serve dashboards, an AI recommendation engine, a real-time pricing service, and a semantic search platform.
In an era where AI is shifting requirements faster than traditional architectures can adapt, a new framework is emerging to meet the challenge. Data modeling expert Joe Reis is set to lead a hands-on masterclass centered on Mixed Model Arts: Data Modeling in the Age of AI, a practical approach designed for the modern reality of multiple modeling paradigms and diverse data consumers.
Participants will work in small teams to navigate a complex scenario all while leveraging LLMs as strategic “sparring partners”. By using AI to pressure-test schemas and automate mapping, attendees will discover where technology accelerates the workflow and where human judgment remains the ultimate competitive advantage. In this intensive session, the goal is clear: mastering the architecture of tomorrow in what is, and always will be, a “thinking person’s sport”.
*This masterclass is exclusively available only to Data Innovation Summit delegates
Masterclass with Joe Reis
Joe Reis is the author of “The Data Engineering Book”, Fundamentals of Data Engineering (O’Reilly), and co-created a top data engineering course on Coursera with Andrew Ng. He keynotes at conferences worldwide, hosts a popular podcast and blog, and is currently writing his next book on Mixed Model Arts.
