Google Launches Native Gemini App for macOS

The American technology company Google has launched the Gemini app as a native desktop experience for macOS, the Apple OS. Designed to integrate directly into the user’s workflow, the application is accessible via a keyboard shortcut (Option + Space), allowing for assistance without the need to switch between windows or browser tabs.

In their statement they note that a primary feature of this native release is the ability for users to share their active screen or local files with the AI for instant contextual help, such as summarizing data visualizations or providing formulas for spreadsheets. Additionally, the app supports creative workflows by offering direct access to image generation through Nano Banana, AI image generation and editing tool developed by Google’s Gemini team and video generation via Veo, generative AI text-to-video model by Google DeepMind.

The Gemini app is available globally at no cost for users on macOS version 15 and higher, and it can be downloaded directly from the official Gemini website.
