Port of Antwerp-Bruges’ Approach to Effortless Data Search – Inge Lemmens, Port of Antwerp-Bruges

Session Outline

Port of Antwerp-Bruges (POAB) has vast amounts of data at its disposal, but struggles with creating meaningful insights out of this data in an efficient and effective manner. Aiming to get the data in the hands of the employees instead of only available for a few experts, POAB developed Apica chat with your database. This chatbot developed together with Superlinear, is based on the semantic graph in dScribe, our data catalogue. This semantic graph in dScribe where meaning is attached to the data is a key component to be able to interpret the data, answer operational queries and distill actionable insights in the data, leveraging smarter decision-making, advancing our Smart Port vision.

Key Takeaways

  • Data governance and data science work hand-in-hand.
  • The key is in relating the data to meaningful concepts that are organised in a semantic graph.
  • Metadata is essential in unlocking the value of data
